The ASI 3556-P is a great horizontal grab bar. It has a 1.5-inch diameter and a peened gripping surface for a better hold. Measuring 54 inches by 36 inches, it's made of 18-gauge stainless steel tubing with a nice satin finish. This finish reduces fingerprints while giving it an appealing shine. At both ends and the angle, there are 3-inch diameter flanges made of type-304, 11-gauge stainless steel, herliarc welded to the tubing. Each flange has three 7/32-inch diameter countersunk, predrilled holes for No. 10 self-tapping or oval head mounting screws (not included). The holes are placed about every 120 degrees for a secure installation. Once mounted, the hardware is fully exposed. This grab bar meets or exceeds all ADA requirements.
Using this grab bar is easy. First, find a suitable location on the wall where you need support. Make sure the wall can hold the weight of the bar and anyone using it. Align the predrilled holes in the flanges with the marks on the wall. Then, use No. 10 self - tapping screws or oval head mounting screws (not included) to secure the bar to the wall. Remember, the mounting hardware will be exposed. When using the grab bar, hold it firmly by the peened surface for a good grip. For maintenance, simply wipe it with a soft cloth regularly. Avoid using abrasive cleaners as they can damage the satin finish. Check the screws periodically to ensure they are tight and the bar is securely attached.
